Dr George Hopkins is the founder of Obesity Surgery Brisbane and a visiting Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric surgeon at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. In the last two decades Dr Hopkins has been a leading exponent of new and emerging bariatric procedures and techniques.

Most of Dr Hopkins’ general surgical practice is in the field of bariatric and revisional bariatric procedures. He has published a number of articles in both local and international peer reviewed journals, and presented at multiple meetings throughout Australia. Dr Hopkins has memberships with the following: Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons; Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS); International Hepatopancreatobiliary Association; and Australian Hepatopancreatobiliary Association. Dr Hopkins is a past president of the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS).
