Our Allied Health Team
At Obesity Surgery Brisbane we have six Accredited Dietitians in our team with an extensive range of experience in bariatric surgery and weight loss. You will see them at least once before your surgery and then every couple of weeks after. In the long term, it is your dietitian that will monitor your vitamin levels and advise on supplements and make sure you lose at much weight as possible and keep it off for good.
Once you have seen Dr Hopkins and wish to proceed with the surgery you will then need to see the dietitian once or twice to fully prepare you for surgery. They will tell you exactly what you can and cannot eat beforehand and immediately after. They will be your main point of contact in your continuing weight loss journey after you come through the surgery.
We know the best results come from long-term ongoing follow up and we are dedicated to providing this for you.
You can claim a rebate for these consultations through most Private Health Funds if you have extras cover – Allied Health fees are not claimable from Medicare unless you have an Enhance Primary Care (EPC) plan from your GP. This appointment is compulsory if you proceed with any weight loss surgery.
