Dr Michéle Van Vuuren: Bariatric Psychology 

Dr Michéle Janse Van Vuuren is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who has an interest in the assessment and intervention of bariatric surgery patients both pre-and post-surgery. Michéle is fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and has memberships with the Australian Psychological Society and College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists.

Dr Janse Van Vuuren’s focus is to enable patients to confront emotional and life challenges, to promote growth, change and healing in a supportive therapeutic relationship. She has worked with patients to address a range of difficulties, including body image and eating disorders, emotional eating, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, lifestyle transition problems and trauma. Dr Janse Van Vuuren’s therapeutic approach emphasises a holistic perspective of an individual. She endeavours to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment to help patients develop their own individual strengths to overcome the difficulties they are facing and live a vital, engaged and fulfilled life.

Dr Janse Van Vuuren holds a (BA (Health and Science), Hons (Social Science) and a Masters of Psychology (Education & Development) PhD MAPS MEDCP).

Rachel Moore: Dietitian (APD) 

Rachel Moore is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and has been working in the area of bariatric surgery as part of her clinical dietetic work for more than 15 years. Rachel has experience in weight management as well as extensive knowledge in the area of gastric bands, sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and endoscopic weight loss surgery procedures. Rachel also has a special interest in the role of nutrition in pregnancy and fertility. 

Rachel has a Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Masters of Health Science from the Queensland University of Technology.

She is a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and of Australian and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) and has presented research at both national and international conferences and meetings.

Michelle Graham: Dietitian (APD) 

Starting with Obesity Surgery Brisbane in 2007, Michelle is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, with extensive experience in the management of weight loss surgery. She is passionate about helping her clients achieve their goals, with a focus on practical advice, that is tailored to each individual. The support and guidance that Michelle provides following weight loss surgery is individualised, with a focus on making positive changes for optimal nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

Michelle brings a compassionate approach, creating a comfortable environment focussed on building a relationship with each patient. She values the working with her patients and is rewarded by seeing them reach their goals. Michelle is a credentialled Eating Disorder dietitian (ANZAED), as well as having extensive experience working in acute clinical settings and private practice. Outside of working with her weight loss surgery patients, she is skilled in the management of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, bowel and gastrointestinal disorders, weight management and sports nutrition.

Libby McBride: Dietitian (APD)

Libby McBride is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and has been working at Obesity Surgery Brisbane for over 10 years. She has over 15 years experience in dietetics and bariatrics and is experienced in all areas of bariatric surgery and medical management of weight loss including endoscopic procedures. In addition to working with surgical weight loss patients, Libby has a special interest in general weight management as well as the management of adolescents undergoing bariatric surgery.

Taylor Vickery: Dietitian (APD)

Taylor Vickery is an Accredited Practising Dietitian. Taylor helps patients work toward achieving their nutrition goals by providing individualised nutrition advice and tailored nutrition plans. She is passionate about delivering a weight-inclusive, judgement-free and compassionate approach to health. Through her practice, she combines the science of nutrition, patient physiology, and inner wisdom to help patients ditch unsustainable diets, achieve health goals and nourish their bodies so that they can be the best version of themselves.

Taylor has expertise in the following areas:

  • Weight management
  • Eating disorders and disordered eating behaviours
  • Cardiovascular nutrition (hypertension, cholesterol management)
  • Diabetes management
  • Women’s health – PCOS and menopause
  • Gut health nutrition (diverticular disease, constipation or diarrhoea, food intolerances, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Bariatric dietetics and before and after surgery
  • Support for ongoing weight loss, maintenance and prevention of weight regain

Lucimay Davey: Dietitian (APD)

Lucimay Davey is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who specialises in metabolic and bariatric surgery nutrition. She is dedicated to supporting patients navigate their pre and post weight-loss surgery journey, and offers practical advice underpinned by evidence-based interventions. Importantly, her approach is inclusive and personalised, and recognises the critical role of nutrition in positive post-surgical outcomes.

 

Her professional areas of interest include preoperative weight loss, eating disorders, diabetes management, blood pressure and cholesterol reduction, and gut health.  She offers a supportive and nurturing consultative environment that is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual patient.

Christine Skinner: Diabetes Education and Exercise Physiology 

Christine Skinner or Chrissy as she is preferred to be called is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a strong background in diabetes and weight loss. Her qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education & Management, Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition), and Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies) / Bachelor of Business. Chrissy also works across exercise physiology and pharmacology to provide weight loss support.
